Hi Billy! I have enjoyed your work for sometime and want to thank you for bringing a lot of laughter to my life. "When Harry Met Sally" is one of my favorite all time movies. I am looking forward to seeing your newest film, "Analyze That" with Robert DeNiro. I was wondering if you were going to say anything to Mr. DeNiro about how the movie he stared in "City By The Sea" depicted our shared home town of Long Beach, NY. We both know that wasn't Long Beach in that movie, but Rockaway. I loved the years I lived on West Broadway, across the street from the Jewish School. That movie made Long Beach look like something out of the apocalyptic file "Mad Max". Maybe you can get Mr. DeNiro and his associates from that film to appologize for the untrue negative publicity they gave to Long Beach.

Mr. Crystal- I'm Ken Walker in Destin, Florida.I know you probably get alot of this sort of mail but I'm writing concerning a great movie theme. I grew up in Northport Alabama and was the next door neighbor to Frank Lary , who was portrayed in you movie "61" whic I thoroughly enjoyed. I don't know i you esearched very deeply into Frank Lary, but tere is a hilarious and spots minded movi plot aboutthis fmily that ould be antastic o the big screen. I'm not going into etail at this time but just want to say that Frank had seven brothers and they grew up in the rural south and their mom was from New York. They are getting old now and time is of the essenc to get more stories than I know frm these brothers. An example- Ed who was Franks older brother sid he tried out o a minor leagu franchise (The Memphis Chicks) but was sent home after one plate appearance. I as him why and he told me that he went to the plate and on the first pitch he hit a line drive up he middle. He paused and I said "What was wrong with that?" Ed said"Well Ken " " When I hit the line drive, it hit me in the back of the head rounding second base. Coach called me in after the game and gave me a bus ticket home. he said I was too fast to play baseball." Anyway there are many stories about these brothers as 2 of them played football at Alabama also. They had their own musical band also. My email is florajama7@aol.com and my phone is850-267-2380. Thanks for your time. Ken Walker

Dear Billy:
My youngest brother is very ill and he is dying. Our family wants to fly him home so he can die with us all around us but we do not have the money . He has contracted Mad Cow's Disease (Crenfield's Yako Jacob Disease) and is in the last stages. The doctors tell us he has about two months left to live. He can no longer talk, or walk. He needs 24 hour nursing care. When I talked to him Saturday night, he kept trying to pull the telephone closer so he could hear my voice. He lives in Montana but is at the Washington Medical Center in Seattle, where he was taken to be diagnosed. I am disabled with a disabled son, and our father died four years ago> Mtoher does not have the money to fly Gary here. If you have any ideas or know of any organizations that can help us, can you please let me know. God Bless nd Whoopie are favorites of mine. I adore all of you. Sincerely, Shaye Padgham

Billy, I have a huge request ...my best friend is turning 50 next month & is without a doubt as big a Yankee/Mantle fan as you and Bob Costas. I was wondering if there was any way I could arrange for a dinner for you, Bob Costas & my friend at Mickey Mantle's restaurant & maybe a Yankee game before or afterwards...my treat!! It would be a birthday he would never forget. I promise that this is not a hoax. He is perfectly normal & I could gladly give you references on him in order to set your mind at ease. He actually sits on the Board of Directors for an event that you are hosting in Boston for Dick Shaf(? I don't know how to spell his last name) . I tried to email Bob Costas, asking him the same thing. You are the 2 biggest fans besides my friend and I am sure he knows as much about the Yankees and Mantle as either of you.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!! Please contact me by phone since "my friend" works at the same office & reads all emails and I don't have a separate email address. My name is Jill and my office # is 617-277-5100 ext 17. If you call, which I am really hoping you will do, please be careful not to give yourself away. You can leave a private message on my voicemail. You don't know how much this would mean!! You and Bob Costas can name the time & day. Thanx a million!!
PLEASE BE SURE BILLY CRYSTAL PERSONALLY GETS THIS REQUEST. I don't know where else to contact Billy so I figured this was worth a try.......THANKS!!!!

DEAR, BILLY CRYSTAL My name is Jim Glazier, from 4308 42 AVE. #20 Rock MTN.. House Alberta, Canada . And I need the help of someone with great influence over people and the resources to convince people they can protect there property. I am not trying to get a hand out, but perhaps some kind of business venture where we both can make money. I have been interested in vehicle security since 1997. I get sick when I hear of peoples property stolen , damaged , and even lives lost from such a preventable problem as car theft. I have looked at many vehicle security devices and there weakness, and endeavored to build a device that is easy to install and also user friendly, and very difficult to remove. I have built prototypes, and have used one on my vehicle for three years even in big cities, and always felt comfortable that my car would always be there where I parked it. I also installed one on an old truck in an auto wreaker and it took three big men 4min. 56 seconds to remove it, only by braking the floorboard because of too ridged a base. This has since been redesigned to be flexible. It was encouraging to see one person could not remove it. It is loose enough installed, that it cannot be cut with a hacksaw, since it is made with good strong steel. The lock cannot be frozen because it is incased with steel and a small air space. These men ! tried with hammers and feet to remove it and only exhausted themselves. Since joy rides and theft of vehicles for the purpose of committing a crime are the main reasons for general auto theft, I know this will be a very good and secure type of vehicle theft deterrent. I have a U.S. patent and applied for an international patent with the help of a company in Ireland, who have done up for me a confidential research report, on North America, and Europe and are at this time trying to find manufactures all around the world that would be interested in building this device that I call "Brake Lock. There is some simple electronics that serve as a trade mark, as well as takes care of the brake light problem. I recently have had interest from England and Illinois and hope to get a positive response from them. Auto theft is a huge problem everywhere. I know it will make a difference. But it will only make a difference if people will use it. If I could give you more information that might convince you, perhaps you may be interested in being a part of this venture. .P lease, if you want more information or have questions please get in touch with me at my E-Mail address ( cadillacjim @msn.com) Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you . Hi I was asked by CAF( Child Alert Foundation)http://www.ChildAlert.org to help spread the word about a boy who was the victom of a hit and run driver. Here is a clip of his story.
Eric, at the age of 10, was a victom of a hit and run driver and left with every bone in his body broken. He has a 68 degree bend in his spine, is paralyzed from his neck down. He has daily migrane headaches. To add heart ache to misery for his family, the insurance cancelled out on them.
The current van the family owns is old and not as reliable for the over 100 mile required trips to the hospital. Eric will be facing surgury to relieve pressure where his spine is restricting circulation of blood The doctors will try to straighten it with a series of rods, but even so, it's a dangerous proceedure. Please pray for Eric and his family. His family is loving and devoted to his care, but resources are limited. Help us to get them a new van!
You can read more about Eric at http://www.BrandiWard.com or e.mail her at Brandi@brandiWard.com for more information.Brandi is a 16 year old country singer trying to help this family out.Once you open the page look for a PURPLE button that say's HELP CHILDREN. Eric and his family live in Nashville Tenn. If you have a news letter please add this story to it and lets try and help this family out....
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Mr. Crystal,
Thank you for haunting experience of 61*. In 1961, I was 5 years old, and saw my first baseball game...at Yankee Stadium; and I have never forgotten the awe I felt walking in there. I had been raised on stories of the battles between the Yanks and the Dodgers (my whole family were unrepentant Brooklyn fans), and about the role that the Stadium and its 'ghosts' played in helping the Yanks continuously defeat the 'Bums'. Last night, I saw those ghosts come back, and inhabit the bodies of your marvelous cast. I was 5 again, and remembered why I chose to ignore the scorn of my family, and become a lifetime Yankees fan. It is something I shared with my 5-year old, who is going to his first baseball game next week...at Yankee Stadium. 61* was more then a great film, it was an honest, loving tribute to the very human players, who we insist must be heroes...and sometimes defy the odds to do exactly that. I truly believe that Rog and the Mick are smiling right now. Thanks for the memory, Billy.

Incredible casting and meticulous attention to period detail added polish to an already incredible story. Thanks for being wise enough to follow your heart and for sharing that with us, your fans. Dear Billy:
I'm writing to you on behalf of my nephew J.D. who is a rising star in South America and who has learned about Michael Jackson's upcoming Madison Square Garden presentation and would like to be part of it singing "Ben", one of his favorites songs . Although J.D. suffers from muscular distrophy (Duchenne), he has always maintained a fantastic attitude and has not let his disease put him down. His best way to show his positive attitude is by singing. He has won several awards and has performed before an audience of more than 100,000 as a guest at Vina del Mar in Chile. I would much appreciate it if you could do something so that he may get invited to be part of this presentation.
Cordially yours,

Will you please help C.A.I.R. pass Assembly Bill 448 to legalize Industrial Hemp in California?
Last month, the California State Legislature introduced Assembly Bill 448 to allow for the production of Industrial Hemp in California for commercial purposes.
Converting to Industrial Hemp can save our forests from logging, our mountains from mining, our oceans from oil-drilling, our soil from eroding, and our air and water from being polluted.
The most versatile and environmentally-friendly renewable resource in the world, Industrial Hemp can produce completely clean energy fuel and is cheaper than petroleum or natural gas. It can also yield four times as much paper per acre as trees and building materials that are twice as strong as wood. And de-hulled hempseed is the most nutritious source of protein on the planet.
C.A.I.R., the Campaign for Agricultural and Industrial Renewal, is the organizational sponsor organization of AB448. CAIR has been working to legalize Industrial Hemp in California for the past four years. In 1998, CAIR sponsored a ballot initiative to legalize Industrial Hemp. In 1999, CAIR succeeded in getting the California State Assembly to adopt a resolution supporting Industrial Hemp. In 2000, CAIR got the California Democratic Party to add wording in its platform that supports the legalization of Industrial Hemp. More information is available at http://www.CAIR.net.
Please help CAIR support AB448 to legalize Industrial Hemp in California by e-mailing CAIR.Sam@att.net or by calling CAIR at (909) 653-3500. Thank you very much.

To: Billy Crystal From: Cantor Alan J. Brava Re: Cantor's Cultural Fund
Dear Billy,
This may be one of the more peculiar emails you will ever recieve. (except those that come from "run -of-the-mill-crazies)
My name is Alan Brava and I have been the Cantor at Temple Beth Sholom in Framingham, Massachusetts since I graduated from Cantorial school in 1982.
I have produced an annual concert for my synagogue for the past 15 years (took a couple years off to have two kids; actually, my wife had the kids; I just helped)
I have always brought Jewish talent into the Boston area and these concerts have enriched our community in many ways. Most of the concerts featured Israeli singers; Dud Fisher, Noa etc. Last year I brought in Michael Feinstein, and this past Saturday night I produced a concert featuring Neil Sedaka.
Here is the dilemma....it is very difficult to find Jewish entertainers who will come to Boston for one night and help me raise the necessary funds to keep my synagogue functioning as a vibrant focal point for the Jewish community. Either scheduling is a problem, limited Jewish performers or the most obvious, the prohibitive costs.
So where do you come in? (are you still reading?!) Well, it would be presumptous for me to ask you to be the 16th Annual featured artist at next years' concert (did I say presumptuous? did I even spell it correctly?) So, I thought maybe you might have a suggestion as to who would be a great "draw", "attraction", "entertainer" for me to hire.
I basically run this entire program myself along with the other duties and responsibilities of being a Cantor and the Educational Director of the Religious School. I usually raise over $125,000 to produce the event and have netted as much as $40-$45,000 for the synagogue.
If you would consider coming to framingham, massachusetts and being the star, I would get you an ALIYAH that Saturday morning at shul...(see how I am already twisting your arm?)
Although this email may sound a bit strange, its just my personality. I really am the cantor at Temple Beth Sholom in Framingham, MA....and I love doing schtick whenever I can......
If you have any suggestions for me (be careful, the cyber-police are watching) I would appreciate it......if you yourself would do the concert, I will re-name my son after you....
I enjoyed watching you last week at the Oscars...my wife and I are big fans and I hope to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Cantor Alan J. Brava Temple Beth Sholom 50 Pamela Road Framingham, MA 01701 (508)877-7920 (508)881-5970

I understand you are currently working on a movie about Mickey Mantle. At Commerce OK, his hometown we are preparing to name our HS baseball field after him. There will be a ceremony and a tourney in his honor. The family, Bobby Richardson and others will be there. We would love to have you there. This would be great PR for your movie.

My name is Debra. My mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer six years ago. The impact that diagnosis has had on me was rather profound. I found myself suddenly thrown into the world of cancer and was faced with the possibility of loosing my mother. My mothers condition not only affected me but also everyone whose life she touched. It prompted me to begin thinking of many things Id never considered before. I became aware of what a devastating disease Breast Cancer is and how it overwhelms you with a sense of vulnerability. As much as anything else, I was frustrated by my inability to do much to help my mother despite my strong desire to do so.
Ever since my mothers diagnosis, Ive been searching for a way to make a difference and do something to help in the fight against Breast Cancer. I intended to try to do something to help raise money for research and something that would allow the families of those persons struck with Breast Cancer to contribute as well.
Since I started considering doing this project with my mother in mind, I just tried to think of her most defining characteristic or trait. Shes known for her southern style cooking. Ive never met anyone who didnt think her pecan pie or fried chicken was the best theyve ever tasted. It just seemed logical to pursue a cookbook idea incorporating my mothers southern cooking recipes. After talking with many family members and other survivors of Breast Cancer Ive developed a different twist to the original cookbook idea. Rather than having the cookbook consist solely of my mothers recipes, I thought why not get favorite recipes submitted by people whose lives have been touched in some way by Breast Cancer. This could include daughters, sons, husbands, grandchidren, uncles aunts, friends, neighbors or just about anyone. Those contributors could submit a recipie for possible inclusion in the cookbook along with a dedication for the individual who has, had, or died from Breast Cancer. This way the contributors could help by assisting in compiling some great recipies that would go into a cookbook where a portion of the proceeds are to be donated for Breast Cancer Research and the contributors of recipies could show their love and support for their family member or friend who is either battling Breast Cancer or who has survived Breast Cancer or they can memorialize those who have been lost to the disease.
Obviously all recipies submitted cant be included in the first cookbook. For those that are not included, there will be a section in the book which will contain the dedications sent in with the recipies that werent selected, or they will be added to the next edition. I thought one of the best places to contact such people would be the internet. If you would like to participate, please send me an e-mail. I will then describe the format. My email address is: demer10@aol.com Sincerely,
Debra
